DR. ALI AHMED ARAIN

Born on 10 July 1961 in Khairpur, Pakistan.
Holds degrees in MBBS & Bachelor of Arts.
Joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan in 1990 as Section Officer. Attended Common Training Program (Civil Services Academy, Lahore) and Specialized Diplomatic Course (Foreign Service Academy, Islamabad) from 1990-1991.
Served at Headquarters as Section Officer (Africa) from 1992-1993, Director (Organization & Career Planning) from 2000-2002, Director (Foreign Service Academy) 2010-2012 and Director General (Training)2018.
Held various diplomatic assignments in Pakistan Missions abroad: Third/Second Secretary at Beijing (1993-1999), First Secretary at Pretoria (2003-2005), Counsellor at Ashgabat (2006-2009) and Minister/Deputy High Commissioner at Kuala Lumpur (2012-2015).
Served as Consul General at Guangzhou (2015-2018).
Prior to assuming his Ambassadorial Assignment at Dakar on 18 February 2020, he was serving as Additional Secretary (Africa Division) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from January 2019.
He Speaks Urdu, English and Chinese.
He is married and has three children.
