The Embassy of Pakistan, the Hague organised a seminar to mark Youm-e-Istehsal-e Kashmir. The seminar focused on situation in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) especially since India’s illegal and unilateral actions of 2019.
Speaking at the occasion, Ambassador Suljuk Mustansar Tarar underscored that “Youm-e-Istehsal” is another dark day in the history of Kashmir. He said that the human rights situation in IIOJK has continued to worsen following India’s illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019. Ambassador Tarar mentioned efforts made by Pakistan’s leadership in highlighting the Jammu and Kashmir issue to the world. He expressed that Pakistan remains committed to a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. He reiterated that Pakistan will continue to provide political, moral, and diplomatic support to Kashmiri people until they realize their inherent right to self-determination as per the UNSC resolutions. He encouraged for a more active role by diaspora in this regard.
The speakers highlighted Indian atrocities and plight of Kashmiri people in IIOJK especially, since 05 August 2019, as well as the historical, political and legal dimensions of Jammu and Kashmir dispute. They called the gross human rights violations in the IIOJK “a big challenge to the conscience of the international community”. It was emphasized that the international community must play role in peaceful and just settlement of Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance to the UN Security Council resolutions. Prominent Pakistani community members and leaders of Kashmir Peace Forum including Mr. Ejaz Hussian Saifi, Raja Zaib Khan and Raja Muhammad Farooq, were speakers of the seminar.
The seminar was attended by a number of participants including representatives of NGOs, academia, university students and community members. A pictorial exhibition was also organised to highlight plight of Kashmiri people under Indian illegal occupation.
