Technology Transfer / Development Cooperation CBI Activities in Pakistan CBI is a Dutch Organization for promotion of exports from developing countries to the EU. It is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is officially known as the “Centre for Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries”. CBI services are available only to target countries, which include the selected developing countries. The focus is on the promotion of exports from target countries to the European Union. CBI provides services to exporters and Business Support Organisations (BSOs) in the developing countries. Pakistan is one of the CBI target countries. CBI has been active in Pakistan since 2008. Its current project portfolio has primarily focussed on assisting Pakistani enterprises through Export Coaching Programs (ECPs) in Industrial and Consumer products - Home Deco/ Textiles, Agriculture & Fisheries sectors. PUM Activities in Pakistan The Netherlands Senior Experts" (PUM), is an organisation funded by the Dutch Government, which provides free-of-cost consultants to the SMEs in selected developing countries. Pakistan is one of the 76 target countries for PUM. PUM has a list of around 4,000 senior experts who have retired or are nearing retirement from active careers in the private and public sector and have volunteered their services free of charge for the SMEs in developing countries. ORIO The ORIO programme is the development assistance programme of the Dutch Government. The ORIO facility is aimed at encouraging the public infrastructure development in developing countries by subsidizing the cost of infrastructure development projects. Pakistan is one of the developing countries eligible for the ORIO facility. The applications for the projects are to be submitted by the Government. The average contribution of the Dutch government is 50% and 35% for the development and operation phases respectively. The eligible sectors from Pakistan are Energy (renewable) and Environment (solid waste management). However, other sectors may be included if a convincing justification is provided to the ORIO Secretariat through the Dutch Embassy in Islamabad. Private Sector Investment Programme (PSI) Private Sector Investment Programme is a development cooperation programme of the Dutch government for the private sector in developing countries. The programme is aimed at promoting foreign investment and technology transfer to the developing countries. Under the PSI, the Dutch government provides 50% subsidy to the innovative joint venture projects (up to a project cost of 1.5 million Euros) of foreign investment in the developing countries. This Program has now been replaced by DGGF (Dutch Good Growth Assistance Fund).
